Realtek High Definition Audio driver problem and speaker static

Hi

I recently installed the program, Driver Sweeper, which picked up a problem with my audio driver, Realtek High Definition Audio after my speakers had been making some static sounds while playing audio. After running Driver Sweeper and cleaning the driver I restarted the computer.

When I returned to windows my driver had been uninstalled. Windows ran a troubleshooter when I clicked on the volume controls. Then it automatically installed the same driver back again. My speakers continue to make the same sounds after this and if I run Driver Sweeper again the same thing happens again. I'm not sure whether I should install a different audio driver or something.

Thanks for the help

Hi Brian Go to the Asus site and download the latest driver for your sound card using such programs like Driver Sweeper cause more problems than they cure in my opinion .

Haha. That program was actually recommended by another windows 7 helper. Oh well. Will check it out, thanks.

The Manufacture always tweaks their Drivers that's why its best to download from them

The correct driver was in fact Realtek as specified on the assus website. I uninstalled Driver Sweeper as I think you're right about it being harmful.

I'm going to wait and see. So far the speakers seem fine.
