Any way to disable the system tray volume control?

I'm running a Creative Xtreme Music card and it comes with its own volume control for the tray. I'd like to disable the default windows volume since I'll never use it, anyone know if there's a way? Not finding it like you would in XP.

If you just want it out of the notification area, you can also right click on the taskbar > Properties > Customize > Hide Icon > Apply > etc.

I'd prefer to turn it off entirely to stop wasting the ram.

the windows volume control can do things that the creative one cannot, and doesn't waste any ram at all.

with the windows volume control, you can control the volume of each app - so if you were, as an extreme example, playing a game at the same time as listening to winamp, talking to someone on msn and watching a video in kmp, you can have control of each of the programs' volume levels...could be useful, you may want to keep it.

but of course, it's up to you! and if you do want to turn it off, try Barman58's tip.
