Setting up "What u Hear" using Rocketfish 7.1 on Win7 32bit

Hi, I have upgraded my XP to Windows 7 32bit. I have been trying to record from the net using a Rocketfish 7.1 sound board, but it will not allow to setup my source as What U Hear. I have tried to use the instructions by Corpsecrank written in 2009. My windows do not display the Disable Devices or Disconnected Devices. Is there something missing from Rocketfish install? Is there some additional later information for Windows 7 sound setup. It does display Rocketfish 7.1 Microphone, Line In, Auxiliary and my Webcam.

arossi10 welcome to the Seven Forums.

Did you remember to install the driver for it?

    Rocketfish

The one they have is for Vista but it should work in Windows 7 no problem.

Hi, Yes I installed the latest drivers for it which was described as Windows 7 compatible. It was a good install I got the complete control panel with it. I might try to go back and try to use the on board sound section.Which Audilgy

Unfortunately it looks like you may be out of luck,

    Creative Worldwide Support

Note: The following sound cards do not support What-U-Hear in Windows 7 and Windows 8:

    • X-Fi Xtreme Audio
    • PCI Express X-Fi Xtreme Audio
    • Sound Blaster Audigy Value/SE

    * The bundled software must be installed for Stereo Mix - What "U" Hear feature to be available.
and your card despite saying Rocketfish on the box, is nothing more than a Creative Xtreme Audio.

    A possible alternative:

Audio/Video Recorder, Editor, Converter. Capture streaming video and audio.

Its main feature is that it installs a "driver" which intercepts "what you hear" and routes it to the recorder. It does NOT depend on the feature being implemented by the driver for your current sound card, etc.

I just used this tutorial and managed to get my USB mic heard & recordable in addition to anything else playing on my system through the headphones.

I tried all the different sound cards including the Creative X-Fi, and Auzentech Prelude and the Asus Xonar D2X series which was the only one that worked right with the What U Hear feature.
