Constant speaker noise in sleep mode

    Windows 7 Ultimate
    MSI 760GM-P34 FX motherboard
    Realtek High Definition Audio onboard
I have the newests drivers from MSI installed. When the computer goes into sleep mode, there is low volume hissing and popping noise from the speakers constantly.

Any suggestions on fixing this greatly appreciated...

If that noise is never happening any other time, very strange!

Checked all the connections and cleaned your case lately?

    Hi den942,

Connect these speakers to a different system to isolate the source of the issue.

If it happens on this system only, then you should try updating the Chipset and Video drivers as well for your system.

Is this noise there when the computer is completely shut down?

Sometimes speakers can pick up outside noises when they aren't plugged into anything.

    Re: speaker noise

This is a new motherboard so case and connections are clean. These speakers didn't make this
noise with the other motherboard... The noise starts when the PC goes into sleep mode and
and stops when it comes back awake...

If the motherboard is mounted properly and all connection are proper the only thing I can think of is the motherboard.
Have you checked the MSI motherboard section on their Forum? That would be my next step.

Assuming everything else is fine, sounds like a new motherboard 'feature' and I would not let it sleep in this case then.

Put Never in the Power Options plan for, 'Put the computer to sleep'

or are you referring to Hibernate?

Then that is admin rights opened command prompt box and one command:
    powercfg.exe -h off

    Hi den942,

I understand issue occurred after replacing motherboard and you have ensured all connections are fine. Then it seems like a motherboard fault or new feature.

You can find steps for disabling the sleep mode at the link below:

    Power Plan Settings - Change

    And disable Hibernate below:

    Hibernate - Enable or Disable
