Are you using the Dell supplied sound driver? If not that is the preferred (and many times the only one that will work or work properly on a Dell).

Please post the PC model so I can research what actual hardware is in the PC. Your "My System Specs" lists an Alienware.

Code 10 can be wrong drivers, the device is disabled in the BIOS, a defective sound chip, etc.

Where are you getting the Code 10? In the Device Manager or does it tell you that when you try to install?

What is listed in the Device Manager for sound?

Have you verified its still enabled in the BIOS?

Sound Control panel takes 2 minutes to open; HDMI sound inconsistent
Brand new Windows 7 Home Premium (6 bit) computer. When I click on the Sound control panel item, sometimes it takes 1-2 minutes to open.
