Hi Jack,
No problem about the response time - I am just so grateful for your time and effort in helping me. Thankfully you have successfully solved my issue. In the BIOS the section for auto detecting sound was disabled (I still couldn't see the chip in there!), anyway I enabled that -I have no idea how or why it was disabled, it was the only thing not enabled. This immediately installed the drivers on start up again and sound was available!!

Awesome, I am glad we it got it to work. Also thanks for marking the thread as "Solved", not to many people do that. Anyways if you run into anymore problems you know where we are.
