    Audio Crash in Windows 7

The problem I am having these days, is that suddenly, the sound breaks, stops working, and I have to reboot the pc.
In previous versions, this was wrong, therefore, breaks and restarted the Windows Audio service, without having to reboot the PC.
Now, yes or yes, I have to reboot. And it's a very annoying problem that happens increasingly often.
I have Windows 7 64bit RTM and Realtek HD.
I have the latest drivers installed.

    Please, heelp :)

You may be able to temporarily fix the issue by disabling and then enabling the device in device manager.

Here's questions for you: If your computer is completely idle with the exception of playing an audio file in an app, does it still do this? What about if you play an mp3 or cd-audio file from a physical cd?

Happens to me when listening to music (mp3), or play a game or watch a movie.
So I have to disable the device and re-enable sound to be temporarily solved the problem?

    Try this simple step

I'm also facing the same problem, but found temporary solution. Type "services.msc" in Run prompt. Restart the "Windows audio" service once. thats it

The reason I asked about if it happens from a physical cd is because audio doing this can have many causes. It is very possible that changing your SATA driver to a different version may either completely fix the issue or help. I suppose I was assuming that you would have an EIDE DVD drive but perhaps not.

I'm sorry for bumping this thread, got here via google.

I had the exact same problem (i'm still having it) and i have no clue what to do. Restarting Windows Audio service does not work, since the device is "not responding" when i try to restart it. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. So far i have tried different BIOSes, didn't work. Only 1 type of audio drivers available, so they can't be switched.

Disable any throttling for the cpu that may be going on from a bios setting or Windows app that loads at startup, to test.

Dean24, i think what he is trying to say is that his sound also started crashing after update. He got it removed by uninstallin the applications mentioned in his post.mine is not fixed yet. i removed WMP Classic completely and will try tomorrow. It's been more stable tho, doesn't crash that much after removing K-Lite MEGA pack and installing the usual pack.

Still no dice after removing media player classic.. i'm writing to microsoft and ASUS right now i guess..
