    Microphone Jacks not functioning

    Hey all,
I use a Logitech headset to talk to friends through Skype. I came do do the same today and found that my mic will not put out any sound. Both Jacks register that there is a headset plugged in but do not put out any sound.
This is extremely frustrating and would appreciate any help.

Right click the speaker icon on the taskbar and choose "Recording Devices". Make sure those that show up there are not disabled. You can simply right click and Enable.

Some headsets come with a little switch just beside their volume control. This little switch can be used to turn on or off the headset mic. Maybe it got moved unintentionally?

Another thing I would try is to plug the headset on another mic jack or another computer and hear if its mic will work there as well. Unless you or somebody else moved something on the recording devices settings, the problem is more likely to be within the headset itself.

As it worked OK and now does not, use the System Restore function and restore it back to an available restore date when it did work. This fixes a lot of problems and may take care of yours.

System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools. System Restore will not delete any user data or emails.
