    Making Subwoofer Sound Louder

    hey , i have a 5.1 speaker system by creative and i have a question ;
    is there any program that can make my normal speakers sound quiter but to leave my subwoofer the same loudness ... i might not be very clear and i cannot express myself very good but i have an example : in the sound section in control panel you can make the right speaker louder or left (and such) and there is also an option for subwoofer but it wont make it louder... so basicly my question is can i make my subwoofer sound louder compared to the other speakers ?

    you could try messing with the EQ in your media player. boost the bass frequencies (125Hz and lower). i recommend against this though, you are changing what the music is supposed to sound like.

    You can try with EQ (tone controls) but any real bass boost would be in the speaker system. You may have to change to a different speaker system to get what you want.

    An easy way is to turn your main speaker levels down & your overall volume up. Creative 5.1 have the necessary controls to do this.

    i dont think windows media player 11 has enhancements by default, but you can go download them. if you use itunes (like me), prett ctrl+shift+2 to view the EQ. again, i highly recommend AGAINST this, you are changing what the music is intended to sound like

    hey GARoss , in the sound options i set all the speakers to 20 but the subwoofer but even when i put it on high volume its still the same bass as before...

    fireberd, what do you mean when you say ''You can try with EQ (tone controls)'' ? is it a program or what ?

    chaosrealm93 , i do not use Itunes and pressing ctrl+shift+2 does nothing... and i just want a little more bass in some songs thats all....

    If your sound has a EQ controls you can set the low frequencies up higher and that will help to amplify the bass more, but if the speaker system isn't capable of louder bass it won't do any good. I don't think you can make it thump like high powered car systems, which it sounds like what you want to do.

    I have a recording studio and deal with audio, EQing, etc daily.

    Hey jacobpetrov,

    I'm also assuming we're talking about the same thing but maybe not. If you mean the bass response isn't very deep or robust you have a different problem than what I was referring to. I'm assuming you'd like to bring up the bass level.

    It would be helpful to have the model number of your Creative Lab 5.1 speakers. I use to have a CL 5.1 system for my PC. Maybe the controllers have changed but the principal hasn't. You should be able control your speakers several ways & I'm not referring to iTunes, WM Player or whatever; just your CL 5.1 controls. There should be a master system volume control as well as independent level controls for the other 5 speakers & maybe a control for the sub. These are the volume or level controls I'm referring to. I'm sure you installed Creative Lab's software which should have level controls as well but these are usually for system setup. The level controls could be sliders, too.

    So, when you say you have it set at 20 I have no idea if 20 is in the middle, on the low side or at max volume. Once again, it would be helpful to have the model number of your CL 5.1 speakers. Get back to us soon!
