I know he deleted a lot of stuff off of It that he shouldn't I had to install a lot of drivers but not sure about sound. and it has a front and back ports for sound and mic. he bought the computer from ibuypower about a year ago.

If you only have "High Definition Audio Device" for the PC sound, that is a very likely problem. That is the basic function Windows installed sound driver and it doesn't always work or work properly. You need the correct sound driver, from the PC vendor as a start. Check the ibuypower site for your specific model.

The PC should have a model number on it. Post that and I'll look for the correct sound driver.

The only thing their download shows is Creative (SoundBlaster). Does it have a separate sound card? (The I/O for the sound card would be in the expansion area below the video card).

The I-301 is an "older" model and they don't have any info on that one on their site. Very poor site for support.

Is there anything on the motherboard to indicate who made it and the model number? May be able to find out what sound is on the motherboard. e.g. if its RealTek, there is a RealTek site with downloads.

Download and run Speccy, it may show the motherboard info.
