Recently clean installed Windows 7, sound very low

A few days back, I got a new laptop with Windows 8 preinstalled and got tired of it quickly. Ran out quickly to get a Windows 7 Home Premium clean install disc, installed everything with little to no trouble and installed all the drivers from Sony's main website. I notice one problem immediately after throwing on some iTunes songs and youtube videos; the sound is insanely quiet. I can barely hear a thing on youtube and iTunes reaches barely 50% in my taskbar Volume Mixer. Anybody have any solutions? It's driving me crazy, haha.

My computer model is a Sony Vaio SVE14135CXW

Hello and welcome Pheneks mate did you install over the 8? or did you wipe the drive first then install?

Next I am assuming you have tried downloading the latest drivers from Sony for the audio?? if not then I suspect from what I can see there is only driver support for Windows 8 - I am no expert with the 8 stuff but it might be an issue. But I would have thought an audio driver would be the same whatever OS you put on.

PS this might help http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-...d#/downloadTab

Thanks for the warm welcoming, and I apologize for my late reply.

I first wiped the drive and then installed windows 7, and the drivers were all current, at least from Sony's website, for this computer, so I don't think that was the issue. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the sound drivers a few times, but ended up with the same issue.

That's the picture of what I'm having an issue with; the sound on iTunes, for example, is at max, yet the sound for the speakers hits the halfway marker, and for my internet browser it's much worse.

So I am assuming you did download the drivers for Sony for Sony and not through the Windows Device manager feature, so from here Sony eSupport - SVE14135CXW - Support

Now I think you may have a small problem with the warranty because they shipped it with 8 and not 7 I don't know how helpful the would be seeing that you wiped the drive in the first place and the drivers may be 8 specific. In hindsight it would have been a better idea to slip a new drive in and install an OEM 7 onto that. That would of course really muck up any warranty you had but you would ave had a working machine.
Again it might have been good to ask here before you did anything but......

By the way where did you get the version of 7 from and OEM or retail pack? if you got it from anywhere like Ebay mate it could be a pirated copy.

Yes, I did. I specifically got the drivers from that website and they were the Windows 7 64-bit drivers.

I mean, it wasn't as if I just did this out of the blue, I did a lot of research before I even bought the computer, that a clean install of windows 7 on to a windows 8 computer would be easy and without a hassle, and it was, except for the sound problems. I did read up on some people having problems with their sound, but I thought they may have messed up with the installation process or their computers were Windows 8 specific, I made sure my model wasn't because I figured I'd downgrade after reading many, many Windows 8 reviews.

I got my version off Amazon, it was an OEM. (here's the url = Amazon.com: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit (OEM) System Builder DVD 1 Pack: Software)

I figure it may be a hardware problem? But, I also figured that if it was it wouldn't appear on my computer's screen, it would just sound muffled but the sound would be correct on screen.

I also tried messing with the driver itself, and checking some Enhancements but that also didn't help. Tried unchecking "loudness equalization" and nada; same problem, in fact, when I did that it became worse.

By the way, thank you very much for answering.

Look I do apologise for sounding as if I was "wondering" where theWindows came from mate but we do get a few from time to time who are not legit.

I found this http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/but when you open the software downloads it says to contact the manufacturerssite to make sure you are getting a compatible driver for the motherboard

So going back to the Sony site which of those drivers did you download?? in the HD one there is a large file and a smaller patch and a combined download. I would try the one circled in red first and then if that fails the one in yellow the patch might be the patch for the 8 install.

Sony eSupport - SVE14135CXW - Support

there is a thing called the Realtek control centre but try this first after uninstalling the other ones you did already.
