Sound went away

After talking with the ASUS tech he suggested I RMA the board. He felt the sound controller had failed. They will send a replacement board and upon receipt I send them my board. The good news about that is I have Ver 1.0 of the board I will probably get Rev 2.0 or the newest Rev 3.0. There are probably not many Ver 1.0 boards left since it's around two and a half, three years old. Glad it has the 5 year warranty.

I was looking at getting the newer version Sabretooth anyway. I really like this mobo.

Actually it's not that much of an isssue. They ship me a board, I install it then ship mine back to them. Pretty easy, no down time other than the board swap and not having audio in the interim.

Asus is a good company.

I thought you would have to send them the board and then wait for replacement.

No down time this way and hopefully your problem is solved.

I leave a CC voucher with them. If the defective board isn't returned to them within a specified time they charge your card for the replacement unit.

Asus is a great company, I only had to call them once about something, and it was just to report a bug I had found. They actually took the time to research the issue and release a bios update. I was very pleased they actually listed to me and fixed what was a very minor issue. Basically event viewer was reporting that the system did not shut down properly when the computer was put to sleep. Causing windows 7 to think something was wrong when nothing was. It was a minor issue, (as everything still worked as it should) but its nice they took the time to look into it and fix it.

I don't run through a receiver. My audio runs straight from the motherboard rear connectors to the speaker system. The only volume controls are on the primary speaker which controls the overall sound level and the software output control. Both can be set to 100 and still nothing.

Yes, ASUS is great. No hesitation to RMA the board. I have a few ASUS products and they are all very good. I especially love my 3D monitor VG278H and I also have a SL101 Slider tablet that is also very nice.
