Trying to change default playback device - nothing happens
I am using an ASUS 75VW laptop. It has internal speakers plus I have a Logitech 800H wireless headset and I sometimes connect the laptop to my HD TV through HDMI.
In the past I have always been able to open the playback devices window, select the device I want to play sound through and click the "set default" button. The green checkmark icon moves to that device and all is good.
Recently it has just stopped working. I click the "set default" button but the green check mark does not move and nothing happens. So, if I am connected to the TV, I get sound through the TV but can not change it to the headphones. If I have only the wireless headphones plugged in, I can not switch to internal speakers. Unplugging the headphones will automatically switch sound to internal speakers but I can no longer manually change sound.
So now, when I have my laptop connected to the TV to watch a movie but want the sound to play through my wireless headset so not to disturb others in the room, I can't. The default playback just stays set to the TV and will not change.
I went to the ASUS site and downloaded what I think is the correct and most recent driver for the internal speakers but that did not help. I went to Logitech website but could not find anywhere to download drivers for the headset.
Any ideas why windows will no longer let me switch default playback device??
