Windows 7 won't use my microphone

I've just installed windows 7 after using XP. My desktop microphone worked fine in XP, but for some reason won't pick up any sound in 7. I have all of the latest audio drivers installed and all of the audio appears to be working. I've made sure that the volume is up and not muted on my line-in recording device, where I have my mic plugged in. Windows actually detects that it is plugged in but is not picking up any sound from it. Looking at the levels it doesn't have anything saying microphone though, just Line-In.

Is this a known issue, is there a way to fix? I just using a standard audio jack desktop mic with my SB X-Fi Titanium.

It should be "Mic In" not line in.

Go into your audio manager, bottom right of screen usally and change it from there.

Renaming it doesn't change anything. The port is designated Line-In/Mic.
I'm not sure what you are saying to change. I also have a Microphone FP, which stands for front panel, but I never hooked that jack up when I installed the card.

Usally in your manager you have a jack called
    Line in
    Mic
    Headphones
    etc

Thats what i was going off,so im at a loss now.Maybe if you go through accessories/voice recorder you can adjust there.

Would there be a driver for the mic?

it's some older generic desktop mic. It could be plugged into any stereo equipment and used as a mic. It's not something that requires drivers. Maybe I'll have to look into hooking up the microphone FP jack and see if that'll work with it. don't feel like popping the case open to find the wiring right now... dunno why it won't just work. It's actually a good mic.

I saw a post about the FlexiJack in the SB control panel. That was it! I needed to set it to mic instead of line in. So if anyone else has this problem, try that solution. It works.
