I have an HP Pavilian dm4 with windows 7 and a I5...i have been using the hdmi cable with no issues until recently. Now the video will show up on the screen, but i do not have sound. I have tried switching cables, and double checking every volume is on and there is no mute activated but still no sound.
any ideas?

Check the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel Playback section. With the HDMI cable connected the HDMI should be set as the default playback device. If not, set it as the default and see if that corrects the problem.
Normally, when an HDMI cable is attached the PC will automatically switch the default playback device from the "Speakers" (PC sound) to HDMI. If its not doing it, there could be a problem with the Video's audio drivers as a first start.
