MP3's lag and jitter regardless of the player I use.

A long shot, but reinstall the Intel motherboard chipset drivers.

A bit completely out of left field. . .for some reason I've never been able to comprehend, bitdefender sometimes caused my audio playback (be it mp3 or flac) to stutter. Perhaps something in bitdefender was recognizing the music player as a potential threat? I've since switched to comodo internet security, and have not had a problem. Strange as it may seem, check your A/V.

Thanks to Zoloft and Fireberd for your suggestions... With regard to the Motherboard Chipset Drivers, they have been re-installed and no change is noticeable.

As for A/V, I am using SuperAntiSpyware and Avira Antivirus Premium. Even with both disabled, the problem persists.

Something somewhere is sucking up resources or memory I think. The problem is annoying enough when the player is the only thing running. It's downright infuriating when I try to start or use any of my software... even programs as light as Notepad.

Perhaps it's the windows envorinment configuration...

With the last post, it sounds like a system issue other than audio. It just shows up with the audio.

Yes... I'm beginning to suspect the same, but I really don't know where to go from here... Can't really afford to replace or rebuild anything...
