Windows 7 can't recognize 5.1 speakers

Hello, I'm new here and even when I checked the forums I don't really know if this problem has been posted already and if that is the case I apologize.

I have a Logitech X-530 5.1 system and I just recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. In XP the speakers worked fine and without any kind of issues, but in Windows 7 only the ones in the front work, the rest are dead.

In XP, I had a Realtek Audio driver and I've tried all the recent updates for these drivers and nothing worked. A lot of solutions say that I have to use the "speaker fill" option or other kind of configuration that implies the 5.1 system is recognized at least somewhere, but that's where my real problem is, I don't even have that option, it's like the system has determined that I don't have a 5.1 sound system and gives me only the "stereo" options.

Does anyone have some ideas please?

I tried that solution but it didn't work. I don't know if there is some secret about the 3D SoundBack but I installed both things just as specified and the problem still exists.

I Have the exact same problem

I sure hope you find a solution. If you do please post the results. I miss my 5.1. That was a major reason I bought the computer I did and now they aren't working.

i'm not sure it works, but it worked 4 me well.goto
1.)playback devices,then properties of speakers
2.)click on properties under controller information
3.)click change settings in the general tab
4.)click uninstall under driver tab
5.)make sure to check the"remove driver files from system" in the dialogue box appears
6.)click ok
7.)if you have luck windows will install, its own driver for the audio

i tried it after long time investigation for a suitable driver and now i don't even need a driver from the manufacturer!!!!!!!

Still no solution found

Suneedhu, I tried your suggestions but it didn't work for me, thanks anyway though

Well, I just realized today a new version of the driver was released and I was hoping it would fix the problems, but this was also a failure

So, I guess I'll just keep waiting to get my 5.1 back ;_;

I WAS STUCK IN 2 SPEAKERS IN MY 5.1 LABTEC SYSTEM WHEN CHANGE TO WIN 7. BUT SEARCHING AND TESTING FINALLY FIND A SOLUTION TO MAKE WORK MY 5.1.. WHAT I DID IS INSTALL THE LAST REALTEK HD VER.6.0.1.5704 IN WINDOWS] UPDATE.
WHEN PROGRAM IS READY, GO TO REALTEK SOUND MANAGER, FIRST GO TO SPEAKER CONFIGURATION SELECT 5.1 CONFIG. ALSO SELECT SUBWOOFER, SELECT ENABLE BASS MANAGEMENT. THEN GO TO ANALOG BACK PANEL, DOUBLE CLICK THE PINK BUTTON AND SELECT CENTER /SUBWOOFER SPEAKER OUT, ACCEPT IT. THEN GO TO BLUE BUTTON DOUBLE CLICK IT AND SELECT REAR SPEAKERS OUT, ACCEPT IT. VOILA 5.1 WORKS.
FOR DEFAULT LINE IN IS READY, BUT BECAUSE THE REAR SPEAKERS USE IT, IF YOU
WANT Could RESET SOUND MANAGER TO DEFAULT ANYTIME, THAT STILL IS A PROBLEM BUT MAYBE COULD RESOLVEd IN A NEAR FUTURE....

Thanks @nickoz and @mitlon200 for your ideas, but my problem is even bigger because apparently Windows can't recognize my speakers as 5.1 and I don't even have the options speaker fill in the device manager and the 5.1 config in the Realtek Soung Manager.

I just installed the most recent version of the driver and I still have only the front speakers and the sub woofer working.

have you test it from dxdiag ?Type it in run.

and have you try the speaker on other machine, in case the problem might come from your speaker itself
