No Sound

    No Sound


    Hello everyone

    I have an Advent Roma1000 laptop which is running Windows 7. The problem i have been experiencing is that i can't get no sound what-so-ever when i play ether a DVD or CD. Could someone help me please.

    Hello Maxie
    I can get sound when i use my headphones or external speakers.
    Don't want to look stupid but how would i access the Device Manager please.

    Through the Control Panel .. Is your Function Keys Working ?

    Hello once again Maxie
    I opened Device Manager and under Sound, video and game controllers there were two items:
    a) Intel(R) High Definition Audio HDMI
    b) Realtek High Definition Audio
    When i double clicked on each item i was informed that they are both working.

    Prior to this message i played a music track using my headphones and when the track finished i with drew the headphones from the laptop. But now there is a loud screeching noise?

    It is highly likely it is a hardware issue with either the headphones jack, or the speakers themselves. The headphone jack is designed to cut off the signal to the speakers when the headphones are plugged in. Read the Link below this relates to your Function Keys ...
