Problem with disappearing audio in a Windows 7 machine

Up until two days ago, the sound on my laptop (an HP using the Windows 7 OS) was working perfectly with no apparent problems. Then on Monday, the I found that the sound was not working at all. I've already checked to see if the audio is muted (it isn't) and I appear to have a working sound card (3-Realtek High Definition Audio). I've looked around online and I'm not seeing anyone else with the same problem. Hopefully, someone here will be able to suggest a way to regain audio. Thank you. -Jake6982

Windows 7/10 64 bit

Hard to tell what happened. However, use the System Restore and restore the PC back to an available Restore Date that is BEFORE the problem. Many times that will take care of it.

System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools. System Restore will not delete any user data, pictures, e-mail, etc. But any programs or program updates that were installed will have to be reinstalled. Same way any programs that were uninstalled will have to be uninstalled again. Give this a try as a first step.

Thank you. My audio somehow came back on, but I'll remember this tip if it disappears again in the future.

Playing audio after boot freezes machine for roughly one minute
Hello, anytime I try to play audio with whatever application (Foobar2000, Teamviewer, it doesn't really matter) directly after boot, the whole machine becomes completely unresponsive for about a minute and the hard disk explodes, until the sound finally starts playing. What the heck, is it so...

How to set up a lean-mean machine for audio recording
Hey guys. Sorry if this has been covered already, and if it has, please push me in the right direction. :) I have a Dell Latitude D-630 with 4GB RAM and 300GB HD. Windows 7 32bit new installation. I have not done the majority of the updates because I don't think I really need them. I could be...

another day another problem. today! REGEDIT run entries disappearing..
Hi guys, something strange (gpedit? malicious entity lurking well hidden somewhere) is messing with my Windows\CurrentVersion\Run content: Autoruns, msconfig,WhatsInStartup, AdvancedUninstallerPro all report the same content, but, when navigating to the key, the only entry is the one for...

Perplexing problem--disappearing place to click
Hi all. This is a tough one to explain and if this is the wrong place to post, let me know. Here goes--I built a new Windows 7 computer last Saturday (January 5). Here's what happens. Lets say I am telling Windows 7 to empty the Recycle bin. I "empty the recycle bin" and nothing seems to...

Windows XP Virtual Machine USB attach problem
I have Win 7 Professional x64, and whenever I attach a USB device (my mp3 player, to update its firmware), it installs the drivers needed, then after about 30 seconds automatically detaches (that is, it is shared and auto-reattaches to Windows 7). I have uninstalled and then reinstalled XP mode,...
Problem with disappearing restore points
I was going to set a manual restore point and was quite shocked when the screen opened and indicated that I had NO restore points. I know that old ones are removed as new ones are added, etc., but something (not me) had deleted ALL restore points. After I set the new restore point it was recorded...
