Windows 7: Use two PCI soundcards on W7

One mystery solved (though not the one that solves your problem ). Re: the many PCI-PCI bridges that appear under virtual XP are all VMware devices! (They must be part of its virtualization). The two we see in Win7 are the real nVidia PCI bridge devices on your m/b. (Don't know why VMware has so many virtual ones)

As to your problem, I only have one more GUESS at something to try: Uninstall/reinstalling a contoller, causes it to perform device detection again. I've seen this help (sometimes) on USB and High Definition Audio controllers. But WARNING: I've never tried this trick on a PCI controller yet. While I THINK it should be ok to try it on the "PCI-PCI bridge", I can’t be certain. However, I would not try it on the PCI bus itself) If you want to try, better to be safe: image your disk first and proceed at your own risk.

For each PCI-PCI bridge device under Win 7 (do one at a time)
> Right click the PCI bridge->Uninstall
> Reboot. Windows should re-install the bridge driver. The bridge controller then tries to re-detect any connected devices

Well, seeing as I have to format anyways (as I changed the MB, some of my USB stuff stopped working, I guess it is because of the driver trying to use another memory location that is not the same on this MB) I am going to put all the data in one of my safe partitions and try this out, although, to be honest, I doubt it will work, seeing how even after formatting (when basically it should do the same thing) it still doesn't see it.
But if it is seen in the vmware, that means that the host (w7) sees it as well, right?
Thank you for your time!

Again, I am sorry for doubleposting!
Here is a conversation that I had with the nVidia guys:

Please note that this was before I changed the MB, and none of this worked.
Thank you for your time!

Edit: reinstalling the PCI controllers did nothing --'

Yes, i would think it should also be seen by win 7. Which leaves me both very confused and stumped as to what's going on. If i had simply heard about your case from someone else i probably wouldn't have believed it.

Sorry, I don't know what else to suggest. But if you should ever find a solution, or the reason why, please post back. I would really like to know.

Good luck
