I am missing my audio device, need help please...

    Hello friends,

I am new here so all the help that I can get would be really appreciated. I have a HP Pavilion p7-1380t system with IDT High Definition Audio Codec driver for it. For some reason I cannot get it to work at all. I have tried everything, updating from HP website, from HP Recovery Manager. I really need this sound. I am working on a project that requires sound and I don't have one.

Any input is greatly appreciated, thank you...

Please post a screen shot of the Device Manager, Sound section and the Sound Panel, Playback section.

The Sound/Playback section is what is needed. The "Speakers" (IDT) should be set as default playback device.

Yes. Now, RIGHT click on an empty area in that Playback Panel and then Click to show Disabled and Disconnected Devices. Does the "Speakers" (IDT) now show up?

Try uninstall/reinstall of the IDT. In the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the IDT and then LEFT click "UNINSTALL". DO NOT check the box to also uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the IDT. If there was a Windows corruption this will fix it.
