    Ati readon HDMI output ?

I am running a Windows 7 computer with a ATI Radeon 6870 1GB graphics card. I am normaly use the DVI and speaker sound output, but when I am watching movies or playing games I like to use my HDMI output to my television.

The problem is that every time I want to hear the sound on my TV through the HDMI output, I need go into my sound settings and select my HDMI out as the defult sound output to hear the sound through HDMI on my TV.

Is there anyway for me to have my computer automatically switch to HDMI sound output when it detects the HDMI video output? This problem i am facing when i upgraded the driver from 12.3 version to the latest one and its really strange that i am facing this issue with new drivers

This used to work for me automatically when i use old version i.e. 12.3 drivers, but now i have to manually set it to default every time i change the output. Please help me out here appreciate it.

    Thanks to all

Normal Windows operation is to switch the default audio playback device from the Speakers to the HDMI whenever a cable is plugged into the HDMI port on a video card.

Are you leaving the HDMI cable plugged in all the time? Maybe that is the reason.

Otherwise, go to the Device Manager, Sound section and RIGHT click on the entry for the HDMI audio. Then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT check the box to also uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the HDMI sound. If there were some type of Windows corruption with the HDMI sound, this will fix it.

If you just installed the old drivers over top of the existing drivers that may not work. You need to completely uninstall the video drivers. reboot the PC and then install the old drivers that worked.
