Headset + Studio Mic = Bluescreen / Driver problem?
Hey everyone,
I have been using the Plantronics GameCom 780 headset (with microphone) for about half a year now and it's been great. Well, great if used as the one and only audio- and recording device that is. I have added an Auna studio microphone to my repertoire to be able to do some recording in high quality at home, but after letting Windows install the device automatically, my computer bluescreened and rebooted. After rebooting, unless I unplug the additional microphone, it will bluescreen again after a minute or so. I have absolutely no idea what exactly causes this, but my guess would be a conflict with other drivers.
I checked my device-manager and saw I had multiple audio drivers installed. Realtek HD, which I always had, NVidia HD and GameCom 780 (listed as its own device there). When plugging in the microphone, it also shows up as "Auna Mic". First, I tried deactivating GameCom's microphone via the sound settings before activating the other mic, which didn't work. Then, I uninstalled the NVidia drivers thinking they might be "fighting" over which one controls the microphone, but it always seems to reinstall itself and has also not helped avoiding the bluescreen. Right now I have my whole microphone-setup sitting next to the desk, unplugged.
This is what the audio-section of my device manager looks like (NVidia uninstalled):
And this is the recording-device menu (without the Auna mic):
It might be worth mentioning that both the GameCom headset and the studio microphone are USB-devices.
Any ideas? Should I uninstall the GameCom drivers? Won't that get rid of all the controls?
Kind regards,
