    HDMI 7.1 passthrough

I have a motherboard with onboard graphics hdmi and a switcher that routes to two ways. One connects directly to tv and the other to my audio receiver that has 7.1 which also outputs to the tv. While connected directly to the tv, if I switch to the receiver to watch a 7.1 movie, it would only play at 5.1 (also non dolby master audio or dtshd. However if i leave it switched to the receiver and then I reset the computer then watch the movie, it will play the movie at 7.1 and all hd. It seems to lose this everytime I would switch directly to tv and then back to receiver, so I would always have to reset the computer before I want to watch an HD movie. Any thoughts on what to do without having to reset the computer everytime?

I wonder if its the switcher that is causing the problem? Switch cables (ports on the switcher) between the TV and the Audio Receiver and see if that makes any difference.
