    Volume increases with internet explorer...

I can set the volume level for Internet Explorer in the mixer and exit, then the next time any audio plays the mixer changes up. I slide it down and exit the mixer but the next time, up it goes again. How do I make the volume setting stick?

    thanks,
    Jim

Do you have the "Stereo Mix" set as the default recording device? I use I.E. 11 but don't recall the sound level changing. The Stereo Mix is needed for recording streaming audio from the Internet and may have something to do with Internet audio playback too.

This is what my Sound, Recording section looks like

I only have Line in and Mic. I might be wrong and it changes with more than just IE 10. I haven't figured out what all it changes with, but I set the volume and the next time something uses the audio, like Youtube or something within IE, it goes very loud. I check the mixer and the setting under Internet Explorer has gone up to mid scale. The other things like speaker, WinTV don't change.
    It has me stumped.

Youtube uses the Adobe Flash Player. Some other Internet audio may use Windows Media Player or whatever player you have set as default, etc.

You should have the Stereo Mix. Go to the Sound Recording Panel, RIGHT click in a blank area in that panel and then click to Show Disabled Devices and Disconnected Devices. Stereo Mix should show up (on most systems) and you will be able to make it the default recording device. Again, this may not solve your varying sound level problems, but you need the stereo mix anyway.

Thanks, I re-enabled the Stereo Mixer and will see what happens.
