Windows 7

I have the same problem. I have a Dell Inspiron 1521, and after installing Windows 7 Ultimate, my computer doesn't recognize the internal or external mic that I have. I've gone in and done some configurations that people suggested in other threads, but nothing seems to be working. I'm almost thinking that it might be worth it to just buy a brand new mic or headset that will work with Windows 7. If there's nothing that can be done for my current mic setup, what would be some mics that would be compatible?

(My keyboard jumps after switching to Windows 7, as well, but that's just a minor annoyance that I can get over.)

Any help on the mic thing would be highly appreciated, as I have friends all over the world I wish to Skype with. Thanks!
