    Hi, Firebred,
I downloaded the correct version from file cluster com. the size is 221mb. The realtek site downloads are waste with regard to support and new versions. How could one not support for previous sound cards with the drivers. I else where downloaded the drivers and it now works. It shows the pink in the rear correctly as before. The realtek site has one 106 mb driver for win 7, but it never worked. It does not even install. It says there is no drivers in this package for the system.
I will give the link in my next reply. Thanks. i could test with the connection now. My question is How Microsoft shows a non plugged jack in front as mike, if i plug a mike at the rear?

The Microsoft driver is not a full feature driver, it is a generic driver and may not show or process all I/O functions correctly.

For current RealTek sound hardware the drivers on the RealTek site work perfectly. For older hardware, there may or may not be useable drivers on the RealTek site.

What is the audacity connection settings, Could i use an amplifier in the Blue Jack at the rear and record the song with sound effects. Your reply link ,for the previous post, has gone to nowhere. I came to this site and look for myposts to get to this link
You see the difference in the file size. This is 231 mb and realtek original site has 106 mb. Why this difference for the same version. The Realtek link is

there are different Realtek HD Audio driver downloads on the Realtek web site, jraru.
The web site will not allow you to directly link to the downloads because there's a licensing agreement page that you have to accept first before accessing the downloads.

I know, I also use an Intel board (and Intel D101GGC) board that uses Realtek HD Audio ALC861. The R2.75 (6.0.1.7246) and newer drivers are no longer digitally signed by Microsoft for Realtek ALC861 chips but I did click on OK to accept using the "unsigned" drivers on my computer. the Realtek HD audio on the Intel D101GGC board is using hardware device ID of HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0861&SUBSYS_8086C601

what is the hardware ID of your Realtek audio device? Open Device Manager, expand the Sound, video and game controllers section, double click on Realtek High Definition Audio to view its properties, then click on the Details tab and change the Property from Device Description to Hardware Ids.

Also use the CPU-Z tool and click on the Mainboard tab of that program to gather info about your Intel motherboard and post it here.

The R2.75 driver from the Realtek site supplies all the needed functions (for compatible hardware). I have it on all my PC's - two desktops and one Laptop. There is no problem downloading directly from RealTek. The size of the file from the other site suggests something else has been added to the download file (maybe malware?).

A previous PC had an Intel Motherboard (older system) and the direct from RealTek drivers did not work in that system. I had to use the drivers supplied by Intel. Same way some older Dell systems require Dell supplied drivers (non-Dell drivers did not work).

    Hi, Fireberd,
Down in the link, there are downloads nearing the size, i quoted. What is the difference between executable only and the other down under the linked page. What the other means. Does executable means only playpack support as given by Microsoft drivers. The executable is highlighted in the link and the other version which is larger has not been highlighted. This creates confusion to users to which one has to download.
Pl see erpster post alerting possible malware . I checked with avast and MSC, and found nothing.
Pl tell me which has to be downloaded from the Realtek link . There are two files there one zip and one exe below the exe only (highlighted in blue). The date and size also varies with the two links i have given in my replies. Please confirm so that i could avoid hidden malwares. The realtek download link shows 226.668 mb where as the other site (file cluster.com) shows 231 mb? I tried to download the Readme file, but could not

I haven't looked at the downloads but if one is an "exe" and another is a "zip" file there will be a difference in size. A zip file is a compressed file. An exe can be the full file, or it can be a compressed file that is self extracting.

Hi, How could there be difference for the same version of some program in different sites. Even though i checked for malware by avast and Mse, the antivius by passes malwares in some cases in General. Shall i try realtek exe file containing about 226 mbs and test it.
What is the difference between executable only in the Realtek and the same Exe down under the same. I will try with that download.

    Hi, Erpster,
The details of hardware id as per the download is
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0880&SUBSYS_8086E203&REV_1008
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0880&SUBSYS_8086E203
As per your post , that is
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0861&SUBSYS_8086C601

    Hi, fireberd,
Regarding file size, i checked that the bytes when converted to mb , gives the correct, ie,231,686,082 bytes/(1024*1024) gives 220.953 or 221 mb. So the links are from realtek only. I queried regarding the executable file only has 106 mb, where as the other exe full contains 221 mb. Pl see Realtek link.
