Windows 7: Replacement for WaveLab Lite.

Replacement for WaveLab Lite.

My old desktop running XP SP3 suddenly stopped working with simultaneous failure of the P/S and M/B. I was using Wavelab Lite to record from my collection of cassettes and LPs and it was all working OK.
I now have a new desktop from pcspecialist running 7 Home premium 64bit. I can get Wavelab Lite to run but when I ask it to save the track, it just shuts down without saving anything. I do like the way the audio recorder is presented with its colour horizontal bars ( not waveforms ) volume levels making it very easy to spot overloads etc. I have downloaded Audacity and AIMP2 but both appear to use waveform presentation to indicate the status, not db bar graph. Can anyone help with a suitable freebee (or low cost) alternative to WaveLab Lite that has a similar presentation.
Thanks

There are many free recording programs, including the popular Audacity program. Audacity will record and it has audio editing functions.

Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder

As Indianatone, I have a paid version of Goldwave audio editor/recorder program (I've had it for years).

Many thanks for your responses. I have tried WaveShop as suggested by NoN and it appears to have what I am looking for.
Thanks again.

RT Seven Lite questions
The tutorial for RT Seven Lite assumes that I have the SP1 as an iso file. Does it give the option to use the windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe to integrate sp1 for my install disk? Also (and I may have missed it) it never asks for my Win 7 Pro install disk? I assume it has to have it in order...
