USB microphone bar always green in 'Audio Devices'

Hi, I have recently bought a cheap USB headset (OVLENG Q2) and even though the sound works fine the microphone dosent seem to work.

When I go to Audio Manager > Audio Devices > Recording the bars at the side of the microphone are always green.

Go to Accessories (Start Menu) and open Recorder.

    Try a test recording.

Are you getting sound through speakers?

    Didn't inadvertently click mute?

If you've tried everything and the mike still doesn't work, I'd return it.

This is the one I have and never had a problem.

Amazon.com: Plantronics .Audio 478 Stereo USB Headset: Electronics

I only use it for Google Talk for phone calls, but it is crystal clear.
