I don't like to say the sound chip has developed a problem. Trying everything else.
No luck with BIOS swap
Too bad. It appears to be a hardware problem, but that is the last thing I would have thought.
How depressing.. Thanks for all your help though fireberd!
So I just found out that my monitor has an audio jack, which I have plugged my speakers into. I'm most likely going to use this as a quick fix and just send my motherboard in when my 3 year warranty nears expiration ( because I'm lazy ). Thanks again for the help!
My realtek audio microphone "disappeared". From my Sound >> Recording settings.
Well, I just figured out how to find the "disappeared" internal realtek microphone. (all I did was disable it and then it stopped showing up there)
To find the disabled realtek audio microphone: Go to Control Panel >> Sound >> Recording then, place cursor in the dialog box and right-click. A pop-up will appear. Select the check box "Show Disabled Devices" (see screenshot)
I really think that this is terrible user interface. I disabled the realtek microphone, I did not uninstall it. It is not intuitive to right-click in the recording dialog box. (maybe it is if you are a techie or work for windows.) Why not just grey it out? so it can be found and reactivated?
