on my Asus laptop i have only "stereo" as an option

I want to use my home theater 5.1 system but realtek shows only stereo, there are no other options.
I am using AUX for connection
I have updated the driver. No reaction
what should i do? how can I add to the list 5.1 or 7.1 options?

You would have to use an external (USB Connected) sound card that will provide the 5.1 or 7.1. No way to modify the built in sound chip to get that.

What model is the laptop, you can only get 5.1 out of an optical, S/Diff adapter normally or out of the hdmi. A single 3.5mm cable is only two channels.

The Geforce 820M graphics chip supports up to 7.1 audio through the HDMI connection. If your Home Theater receiver has HDMI input then give that a try.

What is your TV, and home theater receiver model? We can help you better with this. It seems your going to probably need to do what's called optical pcm out of your laptop to recover or pc to TV then TV might be able to output to the receiver.
EDIT: also do you have a item called nvidia control panel if you right click your desktop?

Odd you can't change things like resolution. It must all be handled by the Intel application. Can you post a pic of the Intel sound options If you have any in its graphics options.

In ref to your comment about an old PC having 5.1. That is a function of how it was designed. Because one has it does not mean another will. And its not a software (sound driver) issue, its how the hardware is designed by the PC or motherboard vendor.

I recall some Dell's that have a Digital out and that is only two channel stereo, but some others have 5.1. It was the hardware design that controlled that on those models.

Okay I have gotten off my phone so that I can post pictures for you. There is not much shown by asus for specs of your model, can you post a pick of what sound card and gpu is in your system in device manager like how I shown below, and if your tv supports optical out you can most likely send it to your samsung receiver, but we can't know for sure unless we have the model that is more than samsung everything (like the label on the back of the tv and receiver) its just odd that your system is said to have only an nvidia gpu when it seems to have both an dedicated and onboard one.
