Can't hear sound through headphones, but it says sound is playing?

It was working and then I hit something in the realtek HD audio manager by accident and it stopped working, I can't figure out how to fix it.

Not knowing what you did, all we can do is guess and try to help you.

Not sure if System Restore (back to an available restore date that is before whatever you did) will help or not, but one option to try.

Uninstalling/reinstalling the RealTek will probably do it. Actually just installing the latest RealTek will first uninstall the existing, have you restart the PC (Important step do not bypass this) and then will do a new install.

Download the latest High Defintion Codec from RealTek. Realtek

you can right-click the sound icon on the notification area and select "Playback device" and then check whether the "High Definition Audio" is set as the default one or not. If not, just set it as the default one.
