Bluetooth Headset Not Plugged In Error

Greetings, everyone.

I've searched far and wide for a solution to this problem, but with no luck. So I'm placing my bets on this forum, hope you can help me resolve this.

I recently bought Bluetooth PRIME headphones by Ms Industrial Ltd. and tried to connect them to my laptop using a Bluetooth adapter with Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba drivers. The headphones are easily detected, but it seems that every time I try to establish a connection between them and my laptop, Bluetooth Assistant prompts me with a message:

Your Bluetooth sound device isn't your default device. Please review your sound device settings.

And opens up a window of those settings with audio devices currently in use, only to show me this:

Headset
Bluetooth Audio Device
Not Plugged In

Trying to play music but only the laptop speakers are giving off sound.

No other errors are present. Troubleshooting didn't help. The properties are stating that the device is working properly and the headphone's LED is indicating a successful connection. All of my drivers are updated, I even checked them with several updating software. I've had a Canyon Bluetooth headset before and it was working fine. The Bluetooth connection works perfectly with my smartphone, no errors there. What could be causing this problem then?

Hi SaiFai and welcome,

I have a bluetooth headset for my Intel NUC in my living room and always seem to find connecting a bit more of a pain than I thought it should be.

What I usually have to do is right click the little bluetooth icon at the bottom right of my taskbar. Once in that it gives me two options. One for music listening and the other for Voip calls. I always have to choose which one I am going to be doing. For some reason i can't select a option to "Do all"...

Now I also have to go in to "Playback devices" via the "Speakers" icon in the taskbar. But only sometimes. Basically once I have connected through the Bluetooth options menu it doesn't always recognise properly. So this is why I have to go in to sound options to set default device to the headset otherwise everything is still defaulted to my Realtek soundcard. But on other occasions it will default itself to the headset

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not sure how is that supposed to help...
Perhaps I failed to present the problem in my post/thread correctly so I shall elaborate.

The problem isn't in the "sound device deafaulting to headphones", it's the sound itself. When I make a connection between my laptop and the bluetooth headset, the headphones are unable to play any sound at all. It's like they aren't even connected, while they, in fact, are.

I've uploaded a picture of the said problem.

Otherwise, the headphones are able to link up with my smartphone without a hitch.
Also, during the "connecting to headset" process, the headset is being called and is clearly
playing a tone signaling me to press the power button to make the connection.

The headphones are showing no signs of any errors whatsoever.
The only error I get is the Not Plugged In status.
Device properties are showing that the headphones are working properly.
But the headset is unable to play any sound on my laptop computer.

Why is it not plugged in? Should I try to reinstall the drivers again or ask for a replacement?

Reinstalling drivers wouldn't do any harm. Or better still, uninstalling then reinstalling. May be have a look to see if there are any newer ones available too while you're at it. Also depending on the make/model of the headset try searching for some support forums to see if anyone else as had the problem.

If by chance you do have the latest drivers/software you may find that some older ones work better for the hardware you have. What I mean here is in some cases newer drivers/software isn't always the best. With my NUC I mentioned in my previous post I instinctively got the latest which caused some BSOD with the bluetooth/WiFi adaptor I bought. Checked their support forums and other people had been having the same issue and advised to rollback to a earlier release. All as been fine since.

Last resort would be to get a replacement but if you have tried everything possible with no success then certainly go for it.

Good luck with whatever you go with
