    Random Sound Alert

I'm getting random sound notifications/alerts that are driving me crazy.
I've attached 2 of the sounds that I'm getting.
I have my theme set to "No Sounds" and the sounds don't sound like system sounds.
I can reproduce the problem in Mozilla Firefox; I can reproduce the 2nd of the 2 sounds Iv'e attached.
A friend has the same problem and he thinks it started after a recent Windows Update.
How can I find out where these sounds are coming from?
    How can I stop them?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ben.

    hi,

i would start by trying a restore point before the problem started.

    Hello Ben,

In addition, did you install any type of messaging or chat program or add-on in your browser that may be running in the background giving you these alert sounds?

Doing a system restore as Oscer posted above would be a good idea.

don't know how far I need to go back and it would inevitably start happening again.
i think it happens when a certain thing happens in vuze and when i get a new message in skype when it's minimised.
although all the sounds are turned off in skype and vuze.
it must be windows related. what else can i try?

I found out the cause of the problem. It was vuze.
If any body else has this problem please go here for the fix: random alert sound
"Could be the new message system if you're running betas - look at the status area for a speech bubble - it flashes when you have an unread message; double clicking it will show you it. Right-click and select options to turn off the sound (assuming this is it...) "
Please see attachment for how to find the option.
