I am having a sound card issue

1st off my os is Win7 Home 32bit. I just reinstalled the YouTube downloader from my backup cd after the last C drive partition wipe. Everything has been reinstalled clean including the os. Windows is working just fine except for when I download a YouTube video with the downloader. The downloader doesn't record a peep of sound from any video I have tried. When I play the video on Firefox the sound is fine. I have an other video capture prog "Replay Video Capture" that normally can capture both video and sound from any source playing on the internet or a local player on the laptop. Replay isn't capturing the audio eather. Also Replay Has on it's panel 2 vertical bars to show audio gain, The bars are flat line during recording. I also have an audio only capture prog called "Moo0 Voice Recorder" that will capture the YouTube audio just fine (Moo0 has a horz type audio display on the panel). The other 2 won't record a peep. I also tried a cold reboot (pulling the ac cord from the laptop and removed the battery). Still no change. I have never had this problem before with YouTube downloader or Replay Video Capture. I have been using both prog's for a long time without any problems. I can't figure out why those 2 capture prog's won't record a peep. I also tried del and reinstalling both prog's. That didn't help eather.

This is really not a "sound" issue, and more an application (program) issue. Your sound apparently works except with certain programs.

I would post this on a different forum section that deals with programs.

YouTube etc often take steps to protect their content ie block downloading. Anyhow, I think this topic goes against forum rules -

    4) No piracy or discussion of piracy allowed at all. Such as software, music, videos and other intellectual property violations (e.g. downloading youtube videos locally etc).

Badcrc it is not piracy to download from YouTube. YouTube gives away FREE "no strangs attached" the YouTube downloader. Just d/l the YouTube downloader from a YouTube sponsored web page or you will end up with garbage that you don't want or need attached to the YouTube downloader when you d/l from those non-sponsored web pages. By the way YouTube makes it's money from the commercial-business pages on YouTube. Like KNDU tv 25. And so on.

Fireberd I found the problem. I have a prog installed called "VAC=Virtual Audio Cable". For those that don't know. (this is not ment as advertising for VAC) Virtual Audio Cable software allows you to transfer audio (wave) streams between applications and/or devices. It creates a set of virtual audio devices named "Virtual Cables", each of them consists of a pair of the waveform input/output devices. Any application can send audio stream to an output side of a cable, and any other application can receive this stream from an input side. All transfers are made digitally, providing no sound quality loss.
I use VAC for digital transmitting on the HF Amateur Radio bands. I do all my HF transmitting via an internet controlled remote base. I live in an apt. No outside antennas period other then Dish Network or Direct tv. Without VAC I need 2 laptops to transmit digital. The digital decoding software (via the sound card) won't talk to the remote base prog on the same laptop without the VAC prog. I didn't know I had to redirect Firefox audio to the YouTube downloader or the Real Video Capture prog in order to get the sound with the video. Call it a lesson if someone else has VAC loaded up and has a similar problem.

I was just pointing out forums rules - rule #4 says no discussing of YouTube downloading.

Quote from YouTube terms + conditions

you agree not to access Content or any reason other than your personal, non-commercial use solely as intended through and permitted by the normal functionality of the Service, and solely for Streaming. "Streaming" means a contemporaneous digital transmission of the material by YouTube via the Internet to a user operated Internet enabled device in such a manner that the data is intended for real-time viewing and not intended to be downloaded (either permanently or temporarily), copied, stored, or redistributed by the user.
