A few questtions. Do you have the driver cd that came with the MB? If so it should have Vista drivers on it. Also need to know if you are running 32bit or 64 bit. On the Asus site I don't see the M4A78-STD It lists the M4A78-SE/95/Roem/SI, and the sound as Realtek Audio V6.01.5821 ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- You should be able to install these in compatibility mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html Is the audio device listed in your device manager? Can you go device manager and click on sound devices and expand the view, then post a snip of it? http://www.sevenforums.com/general-...ed-method-uploading-posting-screen-shots.html This way we can try to force the install from update driver. Or you can try installing the latest Realtek HD driver from here http://www.sevenforums.com/sound-audio/3756-latest-realtek-hd-audio-driver-version.html Thanks I'll check back. Fabe 10/7 till after Nascar race
