The best solution is to download the conexant ac97-61410599.exe driver file. Open this file using WinRAR (WinZip won't work). Extract camc6aud.sys and camc6hal.sys. Rename them camcaud.sys and camchal.sys (in short, remove the 6 from the filename. Copy these files to c:\windows\system32\drivers\.

Be sure to reboot the system so the new drivers will load.

Ok guys. HP dv8305us. AMD Turion 64. 1.25GB memory. AC97 issue with WIndows 7 Ultimate X64. This is a reinstall. The first time I installed, my partition wasn't big enough. However, I was able to get sound working that time. It was a semi-fresh install overwriting and formatting my little 13GB partition. Now I have a 45GB partition and I can't for the life of me get the sound device to work. I either get code 10's or no audio device installed. Here's my device id's:

    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_309B103C&REV_02
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_309B103C
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_040100
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_0401

Somone in another thread mentioned something about grabbing an c97-61410599.exe file and extracting a couple of files from it. But didn't tell where to find the file. I've been beating myself up over this sound issue for almost 3 weeks now. I'm about to dual boot the POS HP GARBAGE with XP32 again just so I can use my Rosetta Stone software to keep learning my Portuguese so I won't be comepletely lost when I move down there next month. Please reply here and to my email:rivermikerat@roadrunner.com Thanks
