Hi, It is realtek ac 97 audio.
This is the driver i see. It is shown as device name in sound controllers. I do not know the real mark. Because, before change of mobo and cpu , i have used the latest drivers from realtek.com, the full version exe. But this driver does not have any problem.
My question is will the hardware bought under xp, would work correctly on windows 7. I did have the problem, when i had sound problem and it was cured by downloading the latest drivers from realtek com. But came the alert it is not certified device , i went on to donwload.

It should work just fine with Windows 7 as long as that model number has Windows 7 drivers for it.

Hi, Brink.
In olden days, i think that even audio device or sound card is a inner part of a mother board. Am i correct? So, it means that i have now the drivers of the card, for windows 7, eventhough the old mother board was bought years ago.
I am really confused with update and rollback on drivers concept, will you please enlighten Brink me on it.

Yeah, most motherboards will have a build-in audio chip, but you could also install a sound card to use instead.

It doesn't matter how old the hardware is. It's the drivers for the hardware and if they are compatible with the installed Windows is what matters.

Usually, it's always best to get the latest version of drivers directly from the manufacturer.

The tutorial below can help show you more about rolling back a driver.
