Also, ceck device manager and see if you have both a "High Definition Audio Device" and a Realtek High Definition Device". If so, select the High Definition audio Device then properties and disable it.
Ap Thanks, this... worked(?) I did what you suggested, but when I tried to install, it gave me an error and closed out of the installation. I tried again but the same thing happened. I then decided to restart my computer, and when it booted up, I had the newest driver installed. (6.0.1.6235) So I'm not sure how that happened, but thanks. Glad you worked it out...that was just a reboot need, i guess... | My System Specs |

The new drivers were probably installed all along but Windows was defaulting to it's original driver, not sure why, possibly the new install routines don't take into account windows default (or older) driver models.
It probably would worked had you just uninstalled the drivers in control panel and rebooted.

Hello Chiumient,
You are going to want to choose either the ZIP or EXE version for your 64-bit Windows 7. One is just an installation EXE file, while the other have the individual driver files that will need to be extracted from the ZIP file and to run the Setup file. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 & Windows 8 Enterprise CPU Intel i7-3930K 3.2 Ghz (O/C 4 Ghz) Motherboard ASRock X79 Extreme11 Memory 32 GB (8GBx4) G.SKILL DDR3 Quad PC3-19200 2400MHz Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card SB Recon 3Di Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition Cooling Corsair Hydro H100 Hard Drives 256GB OCZ Vector

I just did all this. It seemed to work fine. When I uninstalled it and restarted I had no start up noise then I installed the new one and restarted and the noise was back. It seems to be working fine. Now how do I check to make sure I have the new one installed for sure? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion p6000 series/Model p6654y OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 630 Motherboard Socket AM3 (938) Memory DDR3 2048 MB's/ PC3-10600 (1,333 MHz) (2 Cards) Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4200 Sound Card Realtek High definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays PnP-Monitor (Standard) (I am using my Emerson TV) Screen Resolution 1024 x 768 pixels at 75 Hz in true colors (32-bit) Keyboard Logitech wireless wave combo MK550 (Came with mouse) Mouse Logitech wireless wave combo MK550 (Came with keyboard) PSU 250 Watts Case HP Cooling Fan Hard Drives 750.05 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity

You can open Device Manager (devmgmt.msc), expand Sound, video, and game controllers, double click on your listed Realtek HD Audio device, click on the Driver tab, and see if you have the current 6.0.1.6235 driver version as below. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 & Windows 8 Enterprise CPU Intel i7-3930K 3.2 Ghz (O/C 4 Ghz) Motherboard ASRock X79 Extreme11 Memory 32 GB (8GBx4) G.SKILL DDR3 Quad PC3-19200 2400MHz Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card SB Recon 3Di Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition Cooling Corsair Hydro H100 Hard Drives 256GB OCZ Vector

Yes I have the new one. One more question. It asked me if I wanted to register my device. I tried to. But I could not find my device anywhere. It is made by ATI technologies. But when I went to that one it was not in there. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion p6000 series/Model p6654y OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 630 Motherboard Socket AM3 (938) Memory DDR3 2048 MB's/ PC3-10600 (1,333 MHz) (2 Cards) Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4200 Sound Card Realtek High definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays PnP-Monitor (Standard) (I am using my Emerson TV) Screen Resolution 1024 x 768 pixels at 75 Hz in true colors (32-bit) Keyboard Logitech wireless wave combo MK550 (Came with mouse) Mouse Logitech wireless wave combo MK550 (Came with keyboard) PSU 250 Watts Case HP Cooling Fan Hard Drives 750.05 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
