i'm having issues getting the latest version of the .zip from realtek's site to install properly. disabling driver signing didn't seem to do anything.
it begins installing (starts up installshield) and gets about 1/3 of the way through the installation when a windows security alert pops up telling me that windows doesn't know who wrote the software (signing issue). clicking "install anyway" (many, many times - this window popped up probably 20 times during the install) allowed it to "finish", or so i'd thought. after reboot - no sound, no AC'97, no evidence that anything had even happened.
i'm new to win 7 - just installed the RC today out of curiosity. any help would be lovely.
sorry, it's not an AC'97, it's a realtek HD device - ALC882 to be precise.
my apologies for the lack of clarity.
my issue isn't with the driver itself, i think - but rather with windows not allowing it to install.
Well, after 2 hours I am at 53% - I think I will try one of the mirrors.
Unfortunately, Guru3D has not gotten it yet to DL it either - but I think this is because the Realtek site is swamped with DLers right now....
I prefer to get it from Guru3D as their site is a lot faster to DL from....
ok, i got it installed correctly, but i still have no sound. any troubleshooting tips?
*edit* nvm, got it working. the other sticky taught me what to do

I'd swear Realtek has their entire server farm on a single 56k modem.
