Thanks for your answer racerx8413. I will test it and report my stereo experience.

Did Stereo work without problems in Vista?

I am still trying to see if this issue with my microphone is hardware or more driver related but I can't find any answers and it is tilting me.

I installed 2.37 and DTS interactive seems to work fine.
Dolby Digital 5.1 is transferred via DTS to my receiver, while the volume keys of the MCE remote keep working. That was my intension. I disabled DTS connect, which upscales stereo to 7.1, to keep stereo as stereo.

    Maybe this causes your symptoms.

Hello all, just installed 7 today, dual booting from a seperate HDD with XP. Never had Vista.
Here is the problem. I had no sound at all from front or rear in 7, however after installing the latest drivers from Abit, properly, I now have rear channel only. There is no sound at all from the front speakers. There is no option to control the F/R volumes independently, as there is in XP's version.
I was downloading the latest from Realtek, but just noticed the dl timed out(after about 1 hr and 75% ) I'll try again from another mirror. I'm hoping this will fix this problem, as both front and rear channels work in XP.

Got things working right. Had to uninstall the drivers completely and reinstall the drivers. Also, I switched to 7.1 in the speaker config screen, and found my front speakers were connected to the side channels. Plugged the front speakers into the right jack, and now all is fine. I didn't see that till after I reinstalled the Realtek 2.37 drivers.

Is the latest driver still really quiet and lackluster? I want win7 back but not with the shockingly bad sound quality and volume i had on it before

Is that why my new head phones sound like crap? They sound great on my MP3 and I-Pod. I cant seam to find any adjustments to improve the sound. My IDT audio control panel does nothing either.
