       Tip

    • You will need to have cookies enabled, check the accept box, click Next, and click on the High Definition Audio Codecs (Software) link before it will take you to the actual Realtek HD audio driver download page.
    • You can download a ZIP version or the EXE version of the driver.
    • When the driver installation is complete, you will need to set your audio settings again in the Realtek HD Audio Manager in the Control Panel (Classic View).
    • Some OEM computers will have a custom version of the Realtek HD Audio Manager with the OEM manufacturer's name included instead. For example it may be named "Acer [Realtek] HD Audio Manager" instead for the OEM Acer.

    Hi Aaron.

LOL, oh yes they do. I like the fact that you only need to install and restart once with this driver version. :)

Yes, I read what you wrote about it. It was also a super fast download of the executable from Site 2. The fastest I've ever seen from them.

Oops, not for me. I had to install twice. The first time it had the Windows installer say it installed but it was only HD Audio Device in the Device Manager and no icon in the taskbar. Second time around it completed. No one time for me.

Did you use the zip or the exe? I used the exe.

Maybe that makes the difference between a one boot install and a two boot install.

    lol

yikes is what i say to this update... am scared to def (haha) to update drivers just when i got them working both here and the laptop with the 2.14's. Quirky install that was. Laptop recognized being HD, but never got any sound. had to uninstall and load'em again to get sound. On desktop the drivers with win7 install worked at first, then lost them? somehow? Used the 2.14 and got everything back.

Basically i'm going with.... aint broke dont fix approach, lol... maybe when i get the courage and a few more replies to this i will attempt the conquest. Thanks for the heads up tho Brink
