Sound Issue When Display (Projector) Turned Off

Thanks for any help!

Setup: Windows 7 PC -> Denon S500BT receiver -> Optoma HD26 projector

PC output is via HDMI to the receiver, which plays sound through my floorstanding speakers, and then the receiver outputs the display via HDMI to the projector.

My issues:
1) When the projector is turned off, the sound stops playing through my speakers. The receiver is still on.
2) Following issue #1, when I turn the projector back on the display is projected but there is still no sound from my speakers. If I look at the playback device listed, it shows the Denon receiver, and the green thing is lighting up showing that music is playing. Only by power cycling my receiver will sound come back.

I have called Denon customer service, and after walking me through every option they concluded that it's not the receiver. They say there shouldn't be anything the receiver is doing to prevent the audio coming through.

I think my PC is sensing that the display is off, and is somehow disabling the audio. Any help?

Thank you for your reply. I actually have tested with a "dumb TV" instead of the projector, and the Denon had no issues when the TV was turned off. So I'm pretty sure (especially after spending hours researching last night) that this is an EDID issue between W7 and my projector. I am planning on trying to tape over the HDMI pin 19 to prevent the EDID data from being communicated, unless someone here can explain how to disable this in W7.

So I have solved this issue by placing a piece of electrical tape over pin 19 on the HDMI cable running from my projector to the receiver. This effectively blocks the EDID data that the projector was communicating to the PC. So now everything is working properly. Thanks for the help though!
