Sound Blaster Audigy 2 isn't nearly as loud in Win 7

my sound card is the SB audigy 2. Back in XP the drivers usually worked fine and produced the right 'loudness' of sound.

however in windows 7 the drivers that were automatically installed upon the OS installation do NOT play audio at the regular decibel levels. I tried going to downloading the new drivers form creative but they do not help. I have made sure all the volume levels are up but that is not it.

It seems to only produce sound at the 40%-60% levels compared to XP. i know this for a fact since i've done testing. it's annoying to have the volume up 100% all the time with it STILL not being loud.

I love windows 7 but I will be forced to go back to XP if I can not find a working driver for this.

    any ideas? thanks.

    correct driver.

can you check device manager (type device manager in search) to verify that the driver is correctly installed and working.

If it is. then there is something in configuration that needs to be adjusted. can you post a screenshot of the control panel?

    thanks

Also I might have a zs card. I check the parts in my computer through Drivers & Downloads and it says I have a sound blaster 2 ZS card. How do I check which card I have? Sorry about this. Really thought I had a sound blaster 2.

One thing to check if you haven't is here,

for whatever reason occasionally the levels will be set lower than the main volume.

Also as far as the driver goes, it doesn't matter whether you have an original Audigy (in its several variations), an Audigy 2/2ZS/2 value or an Audigy 4 (not the Pro); they all use the same driver.

Edit: Forgot one thing, while in the Windows settings also click on the Advanced tab and set it to "16 bit, 44100 Hz" if it isn't already.

The only ones that work at the Daniel K Audigy 2zs drivers. I have two systems with that card. The Auto install ones do not work at all,...the creative ones have terrible static noises,...this occured on both machines!

I had to google for the Daniel K Audigy 2 drivers, I could only find a torrent link but it was easy to find and download from there using Utorrent. I believe the drivers were made for Vista originally.

That is the only way your Audigy 2 or Audigy 2zs is going to work. His drivers worked perfectly for me on both machines.

You can get the torrent link here, just a link to the torrent, if you are lucky someone will be hosting it again. Creative Soundblaster Audigy Series Vista Drivers [by daniel k] Torrent Download - Torrent Reactor NET

If low sound volume is the only problem then also try doing this, set to DVD quality 48000Hz.

chev65 that torrent is from last year (March of last year) and he has updated it a few times. This,

SB Audigy Series Support Pack 3.6 (11/09/2009) - Creative Labs

is the latest (and apparently the last) for the Audigy series.
