Volume fluctuations

Okay, let me explain myself here. See system specs.

I have my audio NORMALLY routed over USB to my M-Audio M-Track QUAD interface so I can listen through my reference monitors (because why not). However, I've noticed my audio volumes dropping off lately. So tonight I thought, "Oh, bad interface, no big deal, I'll just plug my headphones into my PC." But the volume fluctuations keep happening, so obviously not my interface.

It'll drop off after a minute or so and I'll have to go back and restart whatever I was listening to. I'm not sure if it's a defective audio circuit in my motherboard or if it's some hitherto-unnoticed Windows thing that I'm not familiar with. Either way, it's annoying and I'd like to find a way to make it stop.

If you have the M Audio set as the default playback device, then the PC's sound card is not in the mix. However, if somehow you are routing PC audio to the M Audio then that's different. If I wanted to use my Roland Studio-Capture and JBL LSR308's for PC sound my PC's audio (Realtek) is not used.

As you get the fluxuations with both audio systems, points back to either the media player, the actual music or some other PC problem.

Run the free Resplendence Latency Monitor and see if it shows any possible problems.

It occurs both in WMP and on Youtube, Bandcamp, etc. It is a bizarre issue. I will run the latency monitor when I get home later and post the results. Stay tuned (ba-dum-tsh).
