    have win 7 XPS 8300, tried to install headset , mic works headset doesn't - ideas? thanks

    XPS 8300, I assume is a Dell XPS 8300? You My System Specs, lists "HP".

    Have you tried the headset in the rear GREEN speaker jack? If not try that to see if it works.

    What type of headset? If this is one that is made for an iPhone or some gaming consoles it needs an adapter to work in a PC.
