    Weird sound issue

My sound runs flawlessly when i have some process going on (like disk cleanup, burning, etc.) If i have nothing going on, my sound is laggy and cracks. Anybody have an idea why?

This is on a Toshiba M45 S359 with latest audio drivers.

CPU throttling is most likely cause. Can be from a bios settings or Windows software you're running.

I thought the same thing (regarding your second remark), however the same thing happens after a fresh install with nothing running.

Where can I fix the CPU throttling in the BIOS?

edit: just to be clear, never oc the laptop.

I think in your bios it might be the "dynamically switchable" setting. Turn that off and see how it goes.

I found something related to it here and seems so.

"Dynamic CPU Frequency Mode = Dynamically switchable"

Very interesting, I actually tried that about 20 minutes ago. I had the option stated above in the picture, "always high," and "always low." I put it on "always high" but no avail. Should i try always low?

Can't hurt to try it but it doesn't sound so good...like it will always make the CPU run slow or something.

You can use CPU-Z in Windows to find out what is going on after you try.

Try actually updating the bios too, if one is available from manufacturer's site.

I do have the latest bios (they only updated it once i believe). I'll see what it's running at now and what it runs on "always low" with Everest and post back.

    Always high:

    Always low:

Everest wasn't so useful, so I used CPUZ. At first, the audio was working great with "always low" and then it went back to crackling and lagging.

I'm guessing it's a driver issue but is it fixable (this laptop is 4 years old).

Anybody have any ideas or anybody else with a Toshiba M45 with some input.

Edit: I just helped my cousin install Win7 on his laptop and his audio works fine. The d600 is a lot older than the Toshiba M45 S359.
