The monitor is the culprit here guys. Is my monitor's audio output defective? Sometimes when I scroll the wheel on my mouse I hear another noise through the speakers connected to the monitor audio output

did you test the speakers to see if they aren't injecting electricity into your monitor?
when there's an electrical problem, things don't always simply work as if there's a low battery.
haven't you ever seen a movie where something electrical was broken & there was little miniature lightning coming from something?

How is the audio signal getting to the monitor? Is it via HDMI? If so, check that the HDMI connectors are plugged in properly on both the graphics card and the monitor. That may be the culprit.

Also, what happens when you plug the audio connection directly into the computer's speaker jack? Do you still get the hum?

I use DVI. My H257HU monitor is display connected to computer via DVI. The monitor is connected to computer audio via green audio cable. I plugged the green audio cable from computer audio output to monitor's audio input. When I plug audio connection directly into computers speaker jack I don't hear buzzing noise at all which is good

Hmmm. It might be that the monitor has a problem in its audio circuitry, but a more likely possibility is that you have a flaky green cable going from the PC to the monitor, as fireberd suggested. If you want to use the monitor output to drive your speakers, the thing to do would be to try a new cable between the PC and the monitor to see if the buzzing goes away.

But if it works for you, you could always just use the speaker output jack on the PC and plug the speakers into that. As you say, it causes no buzzing when you do that. That might be the simplest solution of all.

It's definitely an audio circuitry problem with the monitor. I tried a different audio cable and I still heard the buzzing noise

That's too bad. I guess your only option for buzz-free audio is to plug the speakers directly into the PC's audio output.

OK so should I send my monitor in for repair or not?

Well, if the audio jack in the monitor is important to you, then sure, but then can you really be without your monitor for a couple of weeks or more?

If it's not that important, I wouldn't worry about fixing it myself, if I'm not going to use the feature.

I guess it's really up to you and whether it's worth it or not to you. Me, I wouldn't bother.

So I guess I shouldn't send my monitor to Acer Repair because I would have to wait a long time. I use DVI because I use this kinivo 5 hdmi switch device to add more hdmi ports to my H257HU. I use my H257HU as a monitor and a tv. I have a wii u and directv box connected to kinivo 5 hdmi switch. The audio jack in the monitor is important to me, I like to use the monitor audio output.
