Sound Blaster Audigy FX Recording Problems.

Hello, all. I recently bought a Sound Blaster Audigy FX card, because the soundcard on my ASUS P6T shit the bed a while ago. Because my onboard sound card was completely fried due to a technical error (I may or may not have touched it with a screwdriver without anything being grounded.) the Stereo Mix was giving me a constant buzzing sound, and the audio EQ (green bar) would be blasted up due to the sound, not giving me anything but feedback. So, like I said, I bought the Sound Card so I can record what I hear, or play it back through the microphone. I know there's a simpler way but, Sound Blaster supposedly came out with a "What You Hear" option, & it's a ****in' sound card. So it should work?

I already disabled the Realtek HD Audio drivers (Stereo Mix) in my BIOS, but "What You Hear" isn't showing up. The pictures will be my specs & what have you. Please help; everything on my computer is updated driver wise, as well as the Sound Blaster. I just installed it 3 days ago, so.

First, you show USB Headset as default playback device. When you use a USB device you do not use the PC's sound card(s), it gets digital from the USB port and converts it to analog in the device (headset in this case).

Why "What You Hear" is not showing?? Recycle the SoundBlaster drivers, go to the Device Manager, Uninstall the SoundBlaster driver in the sound section, but DO NOT uninstall the Drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the SoundBlaster. This may fix it.

Post a screenshot of the Device Manager, Sound section. The CPU-Z isn't needed for the sound problems.

Which one do I uninstall?

Disconnect the USB headset and then see if What You Hear is available in the Recording Panel. The USB, as noted, uses its own built in sound conversion and not the PC's sound card. Don't know if that affects it or not, but worth a try.

I don't see anything in the Device Manager, other than the USB Headset, that shouldn't be there.

Do you have the latest drivers from Creative? Sometimes the drivers supplied with a new sound card are not the newest.

I've got all the latest drivers from Creative. I spent hours scouring their website, just so I'd make sure. I even attempted to download the correct Daniel_K Sound Drivers too, but those wouldn't even work, because it wasn't compatible with this card. I'm about to smash it or return it, depends on how my anger gets in the next few hours.

Can you link to where Sound Blaster supposedly made this statement about the FX? I purchased a Sound Blaster FX when they first came out and not a lot of information was available concerning it. I was dismayed to learn that it was not a typical Audigy. This one uses a Realtek chip. I ended up pulling it, and it has been sitting in its box up in the closet for the past couple of years. No "What U Hear" feature was a deal breaker for me, because I rely on that feature to add vocals to music I create. Had I known this, I would have never ordered one.

The link below clearly states that the Sound Blaster FX unfortunately does not support "What-U-Hear":

Creative Worldwide Support

I'm sure that could add support if they wanted to, but up until now, they have not.

SoundBlaster's used to be THE PC sound card of choice. No more, there are many companies making add on sound card. The Realtek integrated audio is as good as many SoundBlaster's. I have a recording studio and use USB connected interface for recording (an MOTU 896mk3 Hybrid) but I find the Realtek is perfectly adequate for checking the songs after they have been mixed. I don't need a separate sound card. One other issue with SoundBlaster's; I have one (collecting dust) as it interfered with my Recording studio operation (my recording program, Sonar, would pick the SoundBlaster up as the ASIO recording device). I had to remove it.
