    Mkv files

    Hi, I have a problem with Mkv (Matroska files). I am running two pc's, one with win7 home premium and one with win7 ultimate. I have files on an exterior hard drive (NTFS) and when I try to transfer them to the pc it will transfer all the video files, regardless of size except for any Mkv files. It goes three quarters of the way through and says it cannot read from the source disk ? I have tried different mkv files to make sure that is not the problem. It is the same on both pc's. If I download an mkv file direct to the pc it will play fine ? (They just will not transfer). I have uninstalled WMP and Media centre to see if they were the problem but to no avail. I have all the right codecs so I know it is not that. Does anyone know if there is some kind of copywrite embedded in 7 ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

    Hi and welcome

    Does one pc work transfering the MKV files and the other not? or do both Have the same problem. From the above message it appears to be disk (OS) problem not media or player.

    let us know

    Hi Ken, the problem is with both pc's. I downloaded it to 1 and it played ok. I then transfered it to the exterior drive. But when I tried to put it on the other pc, no way, it will not even letme transfer it back to the pc I took it from, hope that makes sense. Cheers. pete

    Also, just to add a word, I googled the problem beforehand and strangely enough, no mention of it anywhere, am I the only idiot in the universe ?
